An embryo microscope has many uses, most especially in animal husbandry and its related applications. And because the special use of these microscopes is somewhat vital to breeding animals, it is but proper that they be used in the most productive way possible. In essence, these microscopes are used to transfer embryos from one animal to another. Embryo microscopes are widely utilized in offspring transplants, where horses and cattle being the common subjects.

The only way to maximize the use of an embryo microscope is to use it together with equally helpful attachments and accessories. There are a number of accessories that can be used with embryo microscopes. And each of them is especially crafted to add a particular function to enhance the basic system of the microscope.

One good accessory that can be used in conjunction with an embryo microscope would be a trinocular photograph port. This accessory is commonly used to transplant an image of the embryo from the laboratory to the site where the receiving mare is located. More often than not, embryos are observed in a different location other than from where the transplant will take place. For such cases, the veterinary who would actually perform the transplant would like to first review the condition of the embryo the moment it was extracted and again a few minutes before the actual transplant will happen.

All these become possible with the trinocular photography attachment used together with an embryo microscope. The main purpose of this accessory is to capture a digital image of the specimen and send it over to the receiving party. This accessory is what allows the microscope to work seamlessly with a computer system. This is where the use of digital microscope cameras connected to the USB port of the computer becomes possible.

Aside from a trinocular photography port, an optional bottom lens is also a good accessory to be used with an embryo microscope. This device is capable of increasing or decreasing magnification. The whole purpose of using a microscope is to enlarge a rather small object, usually invisible to the naked eye, into something more viewable. This is also the reason why the zoom lens, which also translates to the ability of a microscope to make an object bigger, is always a microscope’s main selling point.

There are instances that an embryo to be viewed is not as large as expected. Being so, the objectives may not be powerful enough to magnify them. For this purpose, the optional bottom lens accessory of an embryo microscope is going to be of enormous help. The optional bottom lens is created to work seamlessly with the microscope’s built-in magnification system. Therefore, if the capability of the embryo microscope’s magnification lenses is not enough for all the embryos being observed, then the optional bottom lens is going to be functional.

But aside from providing additional magnification power, the optional bottom lens accessory can also be used to change the working distance of the microscope. There are times that the veterinary doctor needs to manipulate the embryo in one way or another. And if the stage is fixed and can’t be moved because the eyepiece is going to lose focus of the object, then the movements of the doctor is restricted.

Using the optional bottom lens accessory can change this, though. Because it is located at the bottom, the stage can be moved so that the distance between the objective and the specimen becomes somehow longer and farther apart. The longer the distance between them means ease of movement and better manipulation for the one who observes the embryo and needs to do something to it for a specific purpose.

The special carrying cases are also considered to be an accessory for every embryo microscope. Actually, these things are not merely an accessory anymore. They are a necessity even. The carrying case of an embryo microscope should be strong enough to protect it during storage or transport. More often than not, carrying cases are already included in an embryo microscope’s package. But if in case it isn’t, this is an accessory that you should have.

Getting all the embryo microscope accessories stated above are ideal so that the functionality of the microscope is maximized. But of course, the actual need for them depends entirely on the primary use of the microscope. These accessories are created so that the microscope can be used ideally and properly. And for which case, they certainly are worth the minimal investment.
